Self Study: Thoroughly review the Virginia Tech web site and its links and the Middle Tennessee State site link on Learning Styles.  Take the test to see if you are “right” or “left” brained.  View the film showing how to encourage your tutee to have improved study skills.  Copy/paste/complete/print your answers to the following questions and give your paper to your supervisor for discussion and review, and/or participate in a supervisor directed workshop.

  1. What is your personal learning style?  Give examples (usually a combination of two, but one will usually be dominate)
  2. Which particular student study skill is your personal best?  Worst? Explain
  3. When advising a student about study skills, which 3 techniques do you consider being the most important to academic success?
  1. What would your study advice be to a recent HS graduate who was about to enter college?
  1. Does the Learning Center have any video or print materials about study skills?  Where are they located?
