Background

Mary Sue Koeppel is a full time faculty member of the communications department of FCCJ and the editor of Kalliope, a national literary journal.  Her awards include the first Red Schoolhouse Award for Teaching Excellence given annually to one community college instructor in the state of Florida, the award for teaching excellence from FCCJ, and the 2003 FCCJ Board of Trustees Award for Community Service. 

Articles, book reviews, poetry and short stories by Mary Sue Koeppel have appeared in over fifty journals, magazines, and newspapers, including the Florida Times Union, The Connecticut Review, Iris, The Christian Science Monitor, Chattahoochie Review, Belles Lettres, Chiron Review, Welks Walk Review, Clockwatch Review, the Flint Hills Review and Small Press Review.  Koeppel interviews writers for the half hour Worth Quoting and Writer-to-Writer TV programs.

Anthologies with her work include Life on the Line (Negative Capability Press); Always the Beautiful Answer, a Prose Poetry Primer (Kings Estate Press); Anthology of New England Writers 1997; Earth Tones: Creative Perspectives on Ecological Issues (Vergin Press); Stranger at My Table (Women's Press, LTD, England); The Red Flower (Crossing Press); Women and Death - 108 American Poets (Ground Torpedo Press); New Century North American Poets (2002 River King Press).
