Sigma Kappa Delta, the national English honor society for students in two-year colleges, exists
To recognize and reward outstanding achievements in English literature and language;
To provide cultural stimulations and promote interest in English on two-year college campuses and in the communities they serve;
To foster English in all its aspects; including creative and critical writing;
To promote good professional interaction among members; and
To exhibit high standards of academic achievement.
Delta Beta is the first chapter of Sigma Kappa Delta to be organized in Florida. In March of 2000, twelve initiates were recognized in the initial ceremony held at South Campus of Florida Community College at Jacksonville. The Chapter has grown to over seventy members. The current President is Steven C. Miller.
To be eligible one must :
be currently enrolled at FCCJ
have completed at least one college level English course (composition or literature) with a B or better average
have completed at least 12 hours of college credit
have an overall GPA of at least 3.30
pay a ONE TIME initiation fee of $30.00
