Course Description

This course is designed to provide a thorough working knowledge of Extended Hypertext Markup Language (XHTML) programming for Web page and Web site development. The course is a lecture course designed to be taught in a computer lab.

The course includes XHTML basics; embedded graphics, animation, and sound; hypertext linking; navigation buttons; XHTML tables; XHTML data entry forms; XHTML frame pages; image maps; embedded code; Cascading Style Sheets; advanced XHTML features; Web page and Web site design; and documentation. Four credits. A.S., A.A.S.

As a sixteen (16) week 4 credit hour online courses, this course will require a lot of work. Allocating 6 hours a week outside of the classroom for reading, practice, and production might be a good way to start the course.

This course requires that you read instructional material in the text; key in a great deal of code by following instructions in the text’s tutorials and in the projects; produce and deliver assignments using Notepad or Textpad and browser software; and, as a small team, produce website projects for commercial stores in a mall . Students will leave this course with a published working website.

 You will not pass the course if you do not successfully complete the project.

 

 

Prerequisites

Prerequisite: CGS 1060 or CGS 1570 or CGS 1100 or CGS 2555.

 

Student requirements

Students are required to have use of a computer
(with more memory than an etch-a-sketch)
with Internet access, and
an Internet browser,
a text editor,
coffee-making software, and
a strong sense of humor.
