Please submit assignments to your instructor on the blackboard message board. Ocean EnvironmentYou may either choose this home experiment or the beach field trip. To find the beach experiment, just click on up and then beach field trip. The beach field trip is probably easier but you will have to spend some time traveling to the beach. Design an experiment to determine whether1) cold water or hot water has a higher density 2) fresh water or salt water has a higher density. Remember that dense objects sink and less dense objects float. Even if you know the answer, send me a description of your experiment as well as the results. For full credit, the results should be quantitative. (This means don't just say that the "____ water is denser. Use some kind of numbering system to determine how much denser it is.) You can do it in a bucket, a sink or a bathtub. You will need salt, hot water and cold water. You may want to color the hot water red and cold water blue with food coloring so that you can see what is happening. Don't use the dispersion rate of the food coloring to determine relative densities. Are you not sure where to start? This link of demos may give you some ideas for the sea water experiment. http://www.csulb.edu/~lhenriqu/300demo.htm#Ryan%20Belida
