Delivery System:  This course will be delivered through WebCT.         
                 

Course Description:  This course is designed to assist students in
                  developing skills that will help them survive and prosper
                  in a knowledge-based economy, adapt to and cope with a
                  college environment.  This course will emphasize how basic
                  academic success skills can be applied in a knowledge-based
                  economy.  Included in this course are problem solving,
                  communication skills, work ethic, information literacy and
                  related topics.

Methodology:  This course will be taught completely online using WebCT. 
                  All coursework and course quizzes will be completed through
                  this format.  Exercises and assignments will include extensive
                  reading, short writing assignments, class discussions,
                  individual research and journals.  Assignments will be submitted
                  through WebCt's assignment drop box. This course requires one
                  research/reaction paper and one group project.  There will be approximately one quiz per week
                  normally available on Friday. 

Grading System:   Grades will be assigned based on the following point system:
                                               A = 525 - 600 Points
                                               B = 425 - 524 Points
                                               C = 300 - 424 Points
                                               D = 200 - 299 Points
                                               F = 000 - 199 Points


                           Each Quiz will be worth 10 Points
                           There will be a total of twelve(12) Quizzes
                           Total possible points for Quizzes .............................................................120 Points


                           Each Assignment will be worth 20 Points
                           There will be a total of fifteen (15) assignments
                           Total possible points for Assignments.......................................................300 Points


                           There will be one (1) Research/Reaction Journal worth 80 Points                              
                           Total Possible Points for the Research/Reaction Paper...........................80 Points

 

                           There will be one (1) Group Project worth 100 Points. 

                           Total Possible Points for the Group Project..............................................100 Points

Personal Note:   I hope that this will be an enjoyable learning experience for all of us.  I have taught this course in a classroom many times and feel very comfortable with the information.  However, I am not a computer whiz and will refer any technical questions and concerns to the FCCJ Help Desk.  If you run into problems with the course material in WebCT, please email me as soon as the problem arises and I will work on resolving the issue.
