About Me:
Birth Place: Bradenton, Florida October, 1944- I arrived about three days before the hurricane of '44 that hit the Bradenton area. I've heard all the stories about bottles being warmed by candle light in the hospital. Guess you could say I came in with a bang.
Early Years: Memphis, Tennessee- I spent my first 22 years in Memphis, Tennessee, graduating from Kingsbury High School (Valedictorian) in 1962 and Memphis State University (Magma Cum Laude) in 1966 with a BA in Sociology and again in 1969 an MEd. in Counseling. My first job out of graduate school was with the Memphis Urban League as a trainer in the OJT program. I marched during the garbage strike and remember well the night Dr. King was gunned down.
Middle Years: Jacksonville, Florida-I started working as a counselor for Florida Junior College in 1970, four years after the college opened its doors. After thirty six years, I retired. I thoroughly enjoyed my job because of the variety of students that I have had the opportunity to serve. In addition, the number of different tasks I performed, including teaching SLS classes and conducting workshops on study skills, career development, and the MBTI, meant that every day was a new experience.
Later Years: I retired from FCCJ in 2006
and hope to return to Tennessee in the near future. I plan to continue
to teach online courses from wherever life leads me.
