This course is taught with two platforms:  Blackboard and Course Compass/MyMathLab

Blackboard is our virtual classroom for adminstration:  announcements, course documents (Syllabus and more), initiating email to FCCJ accounts, and more.

CourseCompass/MyMathLab is our virtual classroom for content:  announcements, student homepages, discussion boards, video lectures, sample problems, homework, quizzes, chapter tests, grades, and more!

Required:  This course has two proctored, face-to-face, paper-and-pencil exams (midterm and final), which must be taken at an Approved Testing Site during the scheduled time.  There are no make-up exams.

Required:  Students are required to activate and use their Florida State College email accounts.  For more information go to Student Accounts and Login.

Required the First Week of the Course to Maintain Enrollment

(1)  Students are required to email the instructor an electronically signed Course Contract.  The contract is available the first day of the course in Blackboard

(2)  Students are required to email the instructor a completed Alternate Testing Site Form.  The form is located in Blackboard.

(3)  Students are required to register in Course Compass/My Math Lab.  To register students will need the access code (purchase required) and the course code (available the first day of the course in the Welcome announcement in Blackboard).

(4)  Students are required to pass (80% or better) the Orientation and Syllabus Quiz (repeatable,  no time limit, due the first week of class).  The quiz is located in Course Compass/My Math Lab (click on TAKE A TEST OR QUIZ).

(5)  Students are required to post a message in the Introductions Discussion Board at Course Compass/My Math Lab

NOTE: You will not be considered officially part of this class until the instructor receives the Course Contract and the Alternative Testing Site Form, and confirms that you passed the Orientation and Syllabus Quiz.  At the end of the first week of the course, students, who do not meet this requirements, are dropped from the course for nonattendance.

Required:  Graphing calculator.  Suggested:  TI-83, TI-83 Plus, TI-83 Silver Edition, TI-84, TI-84 Plus.  Only TI-83 and TI-84s are allowed at proctored Testing Sites.

Required:  Able to attend a proctored Midterm Exam and Final Exam as scheduled below.  If these dates do not meet your schedule, do not enroll in this course.  These dates cannot be changed.

Required:  Independent, motivated mathematic student.  If you work independently, enjoy reading and posting messages from classmates, can trouble-shoot computer problems (and know when and where to seek help), and prefer the private study offered by online courses, this course should suit you well.
