Internship Syllabus
(CET1942, CET1943, EEV0930B, EEV0943, CNT2942,
CNT2943 - 313658, 309014, 309125)

Instructor:      Cheryl Schmidt
            Phone:
            598-5653
            Office:             Downtown ATC 213B
            Office hours:
email for an appointment
            E-mail:
            cschmidt@fscj.edu

Objectives:     To prepare the student for employment by exposing him or her
to a working environment related to classes already taken. The
internship also exposes the student to problems that may not have
been covered or experienced in the classroom.

 Book:              None

Attendance:    Attendance shall not be taken.  The hours worked during the internship
are documented in a journal. The journal and other paperwork is turned into the
internship coordinator, Cheryl Schmidt, during the term.

Tests:  There are no tests during the internship.

Expectations: The student is expected to find an internship company related to his/her
field of study. If one cannot be found, the internship coordinator will locate one;
however, the student must provide proof (date, time, name, and contact information
of the people spoken to about an UNPAID internship). The hours to be worked
are to be negotiated between the student and the internship company, but the total
number of hours are set by course. Please go to all the links shown above.

The student is expected to do the following:

bulletCheck their college-provided student email account regularly.
This is the only email account used for communication.

bulletSubmit via BlackBoard (cschmidt@fscj.edu) the initial internship form as soon as the
internship is negotiated. The internship coordinator must approve the
internship as one that relates to the degree.
If an internship company cannot be
found, send the REQUIRED documentation of your attempts (see Expectations section)
to cschmidt@fscj.edu and in internship company will be found for you. This form is
uploaded through BlackBoard Assignments link. A video describing how to do this can
be found at http://media.fccj.edu/blog/cheryl_a_schmidt/BBUploads.swf

bulletKeep a journal of all work. A sample journal is provided. The journal can be turned in
with multiple submissions or just one. Once you have logged and submitted the number of
hours required, you are not required to do further journal submissions. You may turn this in
early. The journal must be submitted through BlackBoard Assignments link. A video
describing how to do this can be found at
http://media.fccj.edu/blog/cheryl_a_schmidt/BBUploads.swf

bulletEvery class in the Network Engineering Program should have had you
produce an e-portfolio document . You should have a copy of each of these
documents stored electronically (hopefully you emailed them to yourself or
kept them on a flash drive). Now is the time to gather those eportfolio
documents and organize them as you search for a job and perform your
